He was wrong about the weapons of mass destruction.
He was wrong about U.S. troops being greeted as liberators.
He was wrong about Iraqis taking control of their own security.
He was wrong about the intensity of sectarian strife.

As President Bush pleaded with Americans for another chance in Iraq Wednesday night, he was speaking to a nation that has largely given up on his wartime judgment, has lost faith in his ability to succeed and is likely to have grave reservations about his assertion that the quickest way to end the conflict is to escalate it.

As the war approaches the end of its fourth bloody year, Bush is choosing to ignore the recommendations of both his military commanders in the field and the advice of the bipartisan Iraq Study Group. So where did he get his hare-brained idea that more troops will solve the countless problems in Iraq that the US helped create?

The very worst thing is that as he makes obvious lies to the world, a small but effective part of the population still supports him. These people treat the situation like a football game and really could care about right or wrong, they only care about winning - as if the war REALLY COULD be won. It's a sick, sad joke.

intense theory interior the U. S. seems to hidden in the back of political rants on Bush (its the election year). the middle East has not made plenty progression interior the previous quite a few many years in spite of who's President. The greater modern-day wildcard is Islamic terrorism that violently opposes any form of non violent settlement so i don't provide Bush plenty danger to confirm something. even although maximum leaders who had stood up for peace interior the middle East have been killed by terrorists there may be some wish. There does look some indication that greater reasonable Arabs are rising interior the middle East, possibly recognizing which you could not kill every physique so it's time to stay. There are some Arab scribes who have faith that the violence of terrorists has spawned a prefer to discover peace as no possible strengthen a family members because it stands now. Bush has as plenty danger, or possibly even slightly greater advantageous than people who've long gone earlier him. finally, peace interior the middle East isn't the responsiblity of Bush or the U. S., that's interior the appropriate interest of the international locations there and while they attain a element of tiring on radical politics, they make look for peace. I never carry my breath on the middle East. a great number of your question is an attack on Bush, in my opinion, yet even although I spoke back the question without the anti Bush element factored in.

Great question. He is hellbent on trying to save his presidency from going down in flames and he doesn't care how many more troops die in the process. Congress is not going to let him get away with it. Even Repubs are starting to see the light and revolt.

If the shrub is lining in a dream world, he sure has done his best to plunge the rest of the world into a nightmare! I ask this - if Clinton was impeached for lying about a sex act, howcome the boob in the WH hasn't been impeached for lying about about all of the stuff he's lied about just to keep his egostroking war going - at the cost of so many lives - both ours and theirs? ......bb

Not sending any troops isn't going to make things any better. You have to take chances and there aren't many options open.
