I have a decent amount of webpage building knowledge and I've run into a problem which I'v never seen before and can't find any help on. I made my page on frontpage and uploaded all the images to my ftp site and when I visit the page everything works fine the first time you go there. But if you click refresh all images go away and show the blank box with the "x". I checked all my codes and everything, started all over and everytime I refesh the page, the images wont show up (text still stays)... PLEASE somebody help. thank you

I don't know what is exactly the cause of your problem, but I can give you a few helpful tips, since I have done a bunch of web site building myself.

The first thing to do is take everything that was written, images and html and back it up to a disk. Then trash what is on your machine. This will make sure you are not linking back to your computer instead of the website.

Then open your site again and see what happens. If you can, check it from another machine. I work with a PC and a Mac at home so I check the work from one with the other. Helps a lot.

View the source code on the pages you have uploaded and make sure that you have the proper links. When I build a page, the complete link to an image is there. You know, like "my machine/webpage/images/billybobonsailboatfishindotjpeg"

I have to trim those links to just name and file type before I upload to the server. Check to be sure that's not what you need to do.

Just a couple of thoughts. Maybe they can help.

All ftp sites are the same thing.. they are just folders on a server that you can access using the file transfer protocol (ftp)...Now... often a webserver will point to the same folder to get its source files. Therefore you can upload your website files to an ftp site (remote folder) and a webserver can point to those same files to display them. It is possible to have an ftp server without a web server just for the basis of downloads and uploads. It is possible to have a webserver without an ftp server but then you couldnt upload source files without having direct access to that server or via a lan to drop the files down.

Check to see if there is a valid path going from your "local" file to your remote (website). Something is messed up somewhere. It could be just one character. Keep checking your code.

You know I had a similar issue like that not too long ago. I still dont know what caused it, but i contacted my hosting company and let them know what was going on and they fixed it right away. Im guessing it is something on their end.
