Are they continuing where the republicans left off ?

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/january2007/100107democratsbeef.htm

The newest legislation they are pushing through will attempt to make:

- Homeland Security identity checkpoints on American roads and highways;

- Mandated biometric iris and finger scanning systems for all Americans at airports;

- Creation of a biometric national ID card for all American citizens;

-Expansion of "no-fly" and "watch lists" to prevent more Americans from traveling (even though such lists have been ridiculed time and time again for flagging completely innocent people including Senators and children);

-Increased special screening of all passengers at airports (greasing the skids for invasive body scanners that capture a naked image of the passenger to be implemented as standard);

- Federal takeover of publicly owned communication systems such as radio;

- Increased government surveillance of Americans' financial records and activities;

- Government wide sharing of information and centralization of databases containing information about American citizens.

Just because the republicans rubber stamped horrible legislation through is no excuse for what the democrats are trying to do.
Stop being partisan sheep. The Patriot Act was a monstrosity but that still doesn't excuse the current democrats for passing these series of laws.

qncy- This information is actually directly from the GPO federal website which lists all the laws circulating congress or have been already approved so its very much valid and makes your argument lame.

2007-01-13 16:02:39 · update #3

qncy- by admitting your refusal to argue your conceding that my argument is valid. ty :)
and btw the first link i provided coincides with the other two which are from a federal site that outlines all currently active laws passing through congress, so my first link is in fact correct.

Eh- I encourage to show this to your class and while your at it print out a copy of the bill and read it yourself.

and your flaccid attempt to call this a conspiracy theory fails at one point. a conspiracy is one that entails methodological flaws this on the other hand is backed by evidence that I encourage you to look up yourself

Jefferson said that it was a, "natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."

It doesn't matter which party is in power, it is still the federal government on the advance. The Republicans are more likely to tread on personal affairs and privacy, while the Democrats are more likely to encroach on monetary related affairs and free market transactions.

Overall, unfortunately, it is the US citizenry, who are always demanding that the government "do something" about everything, that leads to the incessant advance of government authority. Even worse, the faith of the US populace in the federal government's ability to affect everything has grown to absurd proportions. Today some people even think that federal legislation can stop global climate cycles.

To answer the question, yes, Democrats in government are trying to form a police state, and so are Republicans. They are not to blame, however. We are responsible for continuing to vote for the people who promise to protect us from everything, and provide us with whatever "rights" we invent or material possession we believe that we are "entitled to."

Wow... dude, I though conspiracy people were pointing the fingers at the Republicans, they have been for years! I wouldn't believe in the conspiracy theory people, they already claimed Bill Clinton was going to put brain controlling chips into everyone from one of their leaders too, Alex Jones I think, now he claims Bush is doing it (forgetting all about Clinton did he). Also with checkpoints and finger print screenings and national IDs with tracking chips and everything. DUDE!!! These ideas were SO OLD!!! You just made my day! Proving all conspiracy theories really are recycled and useless to society. I'm going to show this to Psychology class.
Don't worry, if the current Democratic Congress (haha) tries to take us all over, the Repulicans can help us with Bush's vetos.

Na, ya got it backwards. It is called a flght for freedom, a new morality, improving social contract, ring the liberty bell, get rid of North Dakota, and obtain a star for The Monarchy of Pennsylvania. Get with the program! And if anyone was on a do not fly list it would be the man that caused President Bush to go door to door in Pennsylvania with my book.

Yes. Both Democrat and Republican Parties are continuing the drive to create a police state. It is a replay of the Enabling Act in Nazi Germany, and for the same reason.

I don't trust any of these people with this power. Criminals naturally gravitate toward power and money.

The American people are allowing this to happen. Now you see why it is so important to keep sticking our nose in the affairs of other nations around the world. Terrorism justifies the police state. Terrorism is very important to the people who would like to create the police state.

All politicians are liars and thieves, all of them, there are no exceptions. No party is different than the other they all parlay government deals and get in bed together in marriage. These people are going to fall eventually but it won't be until America and other world leading countries wake up and rebel. This is going to take We the People everywhere? Get it?
The Patriot Act is a Third Reich mentality. It is appalling how political science majors have read that dictatorship and sit calmly and say,"Well there are good ideas here, but it could use revising a little." ha ha they are not even smart enough to write their own like Jefferson and others that wrote the constitution. Paranoia does strike deep, and their biggest paranoia is losing power, and most of all they fear death? So there you have it. The combination is one of Paranoid hidden psychotics.

I wondered how long it would take everyone to figure out they wasn't going to get a free ride. There was once an actor named W.C. Fields. His favorite by-line was never give a sucker an even break. To bad the American public wanted a change and a change they are going to get whether good or bad. The key word here would be Suffer. You asked for it you got it. Also it would be interesting to note the Democrats are looking awfully hard at Iran. Read the Iran Focus News and become informed.

I posted this last night - it's very long, sorry, but I think you might like it....

Who is REALLY tearing apart our rights?

I see Liberals as the biggest threat to my rights. Why? They try to tell me what I should drive, never bothering to find out if I might - work with me here - actually NEED a big truck. We own a small farm - farms need trucks. We have a tractor, too. Is that bad?

They tell us not to hunt. I don't personally hunt, but I reap the benefits from having many friends and family members who do. Our freezer always has moose in it. Sometimes sheep and caribou, too. So what if the hunter takes a trophy? The meat gets eaten. Only a moron wastes good meat. Besides, game is much, much healthier. Our beef supply is full of hormones and antibiotics. Have at it - but I'll keep my moose, thanks.

They tell us where to smoke. I'm an ex-smoker and I really hate the smell of cigarettes. But - they ARE legal and people who smoke DO have rights, too. Hell, they won't even leave it up to a business owner to decide if he/she wants to allow smoking - what about THEIR rights?

They tell us not to trap, or wear fur. Well, too bad. Most people I know who trap, trap for the money. It's been a way of life here LONG before you or I came along. It's a cultural tradition here, going straight back to the Natives. Fur is not only a renewable resource, it's non-toxic and does not pollute the environment. How much pollution is put into our environment by all these fancy, high-tech materials?

They say we shouldn't log. Forest management is a necessity - just look at how awful the fires in California have been. Mother Nature has always used fire as a way to keep the forest healthy - we can either do it ourselves, and not have such horrible fires, or she'll take care of it. Instead of wasting all that wood AND polluting the environment with all that smoke, why shouldn't someone make a living off of it?

Liberal teachers say they don't have time to raise our kids - and they're right, they don't. So why are so many children being taught liberal propaganda? A little boy on my husband's side of the family was riding along with his grandmother a couple of years ago. They passed a man cutting down a dead, rotten tree, and the poor kid burst into tears. Gran asked him what was wrong, and he replied, "That man is cutting down that tree! We're all going to die!" Where did he learn that? SCHOOL.

My nephew lives in a very small town and is growing up in a very typical small-town Alaska manner. He hunts, fishes, and traps. When he was six, his parents had to go down to the school - some liberal moron was lecturing this kid because he likes to hunt and trap. Gee, you're right - it would be *so* much better if he just sat in front of a television every night, lost for hours in a video game.

My best friend pulls her sons out of school each fall to go moose hunting with their father. She had to go to THEIR elementary school more than once to tell a liberal teacher to mind their own damned business - the boys were given a bad time because they hunt. That's total BS.

Liberals only support freedom of speech if it is speech they agree with. Just look at how poorly INVITED Conservative speakers are treated on colleges all across the country. Hell, I'm a right-leaning Libertarian who works for a university - diversity my ***. I know of 5 other right-leaning employees - and I've worked in 6 different departments. And trust me - politics always comes up.

We didn't decorate for "the holidays" last year, or hold our annual "holiday" party. (We're not allowed to call it Christmas. Damn - what's that about freedom of speech? Or religion? Hmmm.) Why didn't we? A far-left nut job professor had a screaming fit at her admin the year before. Why? Because I actually had the nerve to put an ornamant on the "holiday" tree that said (this would be a good time to get the children out of the room) "Merry Christmas". Yep, that's right - the "C" word. Right out there for all to see. This hag THREW the ornament at her admin, screaming (we could hear it down the hall) "THIS HAS NO PLACE ON A UNIVERSITY CAMPUS!" Really? So, I guess that diversity thing only applies to non-Christians?

Look what the ACLU did for NY schools. It's perfectly okay to display the Jewish Menorah, or the Muslim Star and Crescent - RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS - in public schools, but don't you dare have a Nativity scene.

WHO'S trampling on our rights?!?

Hypocrisy, thy name is liberal....
