Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any body of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. – Noah Webster

That's entirely possible. People who have been conditioned not to stand up for their rights are likely to be poor soldiers. That's why the Israelites had to spend 40 years in the wilderness before entering the promised land. Those who had spent their formative years as slaves in Egypt couldn't be good soldiers.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. The right to bare arm has always been assaulted more then embraced. Remember how militias here were impugned after McVeigh blew up that federal building? And yet, it will be those militias as well as regular citizen, with deer hunting rifles, hunters with gator guns, gang bangers with illegal Mac 10s and anyone else with a gun that will be relied on to take the fight to any enemy that somehow invaded these shores. These regular citizen(homegrown insurgency)will be taking the fight to any invading army 24/7. In ways the regular military can't. And just as it is with the militias in Iraq, try to disarm them and you might open up a can of worms you can not get the lid back on. You can not defeat a determined "citizen army" It is their homes you are trying to take and most well die before they give it up. Not just here, but EVERYWHERE. And I mean EVERYWHERE.

Well, my man, this isn't Europe...and we have the right to own a weapon. The new bill will be coming into play very soon, where people who own guns (with permits, not a CCW permit) are allowed to defend themselves inside their homes and in their vehicles...or did you not read that new bill that was signed? The person whose home gets broken into, will not be liable for lawsuits as long as they have proof it was a B & E and their were in fear of their lives.
