Yeah I think there is.

To first order approximation, I think life on other planets develops very similar to ours. Basic building blocks first, then cells, etc etc.

If evolution has lead us to what we are today, whats to say it wouldn't lead to the same on another planet.

Some things to consider that would cause differences are (a) planet's distance from star, (b) size of planet (strength of gravity). But remember that for a planet to sustain life like us, it would have to have a similar environment.

Life not like us and a planet with a different environment, maybe... interesting question.

The conditions on earth are not suitable for life, par se. It is the life forms that are suitable for the conditions. The processes that have jump started life here " Had " to be at work throughout the universe. Not all of them will have evolved as we did, heck some may have been frozen in time and still swimming in the ocean as organisms and started the same time we did. Others, may have moved far beyond us but they favored specific technologies and never invented/developed some of hte technologies we have chosen.
Other planets though, do not have to have anything like earth for a life form to adapt to those conditions, as well. Different yes, totally unable to support life - doubtful.
Don't forget the obvious ' Someone has to be first' and plant 10 plants in your backyard at the same time. In two months you'll see there is always one that is far above the rest. So even if all life started at the same time, don't mean it progressed at the same rate, we could be the oddity that we are so far along in such a short time, we may be living a life afforded to other life forms that are 25 million year old societies, for example.Maybe those flukes, like the moon caused life to progress at a different rate than others.
But I strongly believe any ideas we have about life will totally be blown away once we detect life out there.

200 billion stars in an average galaxy. 100-125 billion galaxies in the known universe. Yes there has to be life. As to what form it might take, heck, there are forms of life deep in our oceans that seem utterly alien to us, so trying to figure out what else the universe can do is kind of hard to do.

Using the Drake Equation, there is an estimation of 1000 other planets in our galaxy alone that contain life that is advanced and could possibly comminicate with us. So odds are definitely in favor of life in our galaxy and other galaxies and they all vary in what they are like. A lot of them are probably like us.

If life exist in this planet why can not exist in others? the real question is, what kind of life? unicelular?, multicelular? inteligent life?
Live thrives in the right conditions, but the right conditions are rare to find, take planet earth. For example our planet have liquid water(one of the condition of life to exist as we now it). this is because our the distance to the sun plus the green house efect cause by the tectonics plates give us the right tempeature. we also have oxigen in our atmosphere because of the mass of the planet is enough to retain that element. there are many others reason why this planet is the right place for life to exist. make the search.
sorry for my grammar (esl)

Yes, but not like life on earth.

Think about this. Life on earth 500 million years ago would have been extremely alien looking to us. Life on other planets is apt to be even more bizarre.

I assume you mean intelligent life, though no proof exists that they are there you can be sure they are.
They would have to be based on some sort of DNA so the limit is your imagination.
