It isn't going to hurt the fish so you don't have to worry about that, snails will come and get whatever is left over, don't worry there will almost always be algae of some kind in your tank that your snails can eat. I have the same problem as chazohio I do the same thing as him it works pretty well.

There's nothing wrong with your fish nibbling on your snails' algae wafers, but if you're concerned about your snails not getting enough to eat, you can remove them from the tank and put them in a separate container for just long enough to get a bite to eat.
I do this with my apple snail several times a week. I prepare a bit of fresh treated water in an old tupperware container and put the snail in to eat. This is usually a great time for me to give him a treat like a slice of cucumber because it's not a hassle to get it out of the container once he's done eating.
Anyway, as long as you make sure your snails get enough to eat, and you make sure that there isn't any leftover wafers to make the water all scuzzy, you're in good shape.

Try throwing a leaf of romaine lettuce in there. The fish will nibble on it but the snails will love it.
Fish need veggies too. The wafers will help keep them healthy.

Mmmm.... algae is a treat for fishies. And they need their greenery. Bigger problem is making sure your snails get their share of their veggies, which will be the trick.

It's probably good for them. Many fish are vegeterians.
Snails would steal the fishes flakes if they could too.
