Even though I'm too young to have seen him play, I'd go with Jim Brown for best ever. The best I actually saw was Barry Sanders

Jim Brown hands down...he played like 9 seasons, scored 126 tds He retired with the most yardage, a record that wasn't broken for about 20 years.
