Like any flower. I just want to know because I want some ideas for my garden in the summer. My parents gave me this little space of real estate that I could do whatever I want with it and, right now, it just a little piece of dirt surrounded by cement.
Anyway, what kind of flower schemes do you think might work the best?

First question is it a full sun or shady garden.
Prepare the soil first by tilling or hoeing and adding some miracle grow potting mix.
Check soil type ( clay or sandy soil) and know if it drains well or is it moist most of the time?
Plant in clusters groups .by color makes big impact..Experiment is fun, Plant colors you like and that are easy maintenance . Perennials come back every year and easy maintenance like daylillies for summer, daffodil bulbs for spring, both multiply. Roses are great but must prune and fertilize. All these are plants best in full sun and are a little drought tolerant. Not much watering. It is also fun to learn about flowers and plants at Lowe's. A few low growing annuals (do not come back next year) is colorful in summer. Periwinkles are easiest to grow. Mulch with pinestraw to help keep weeds out and keeps moisture in soil.

I like whatever is blooming in my yard the best! Right now, I have hibiscus, Turk's cap and cosmos blooming. And my narcissus is getting ready to bloom in the next couple of weeks. Spring bulbs are an easy way to have color, combined with some annuals and perennials. An nice annual plant that does well in sun or part shade is clown flowers.

it depends entirely on it's location: sun or shade? large or small?
I love all flowers too...
My personal favourites include the bearded iris, daisies and coral bells. All attract butterflies, all are perennials and all can get quite large. You will have to plan your garden carefully if it's small, But do fill it with flowers of all kinds if you can. You can always control perennials by yearly pinching them back (ie control their spreading by pulling out what you don't want there. Keep it watered well and a good rule of thumb is to plant your plants in 3's in a triangle. (iris's grow about 3 feet tall, so they should be in the back....
I wish I could see pictures - enjoy!!

Coreopsis. All varieties. They are hardy through the heat, and do well in full sun to part shade. They are a perennial, and come back thicker and fuller and even sprout up on their own in other areas each year. They are easy to transplant to other areas or to thin out and give away to others. They are bushy, tall and have small to medium blooms and the foliage is bright green. Look them up on the web. I buy mine at home depot in early to mid summer. In my zone, they bloom from May till September and can be cut down in early October only to sprout up just as tall the following year. Good luck.

Tiger lillies (beautiful orange flowers) look great. We also have different colors of hollyhocks (dark burgandy, red, pink, white). Both reseed themselves for the next year so you don't have to worry about digging up bulbs and such.
Tiger lillies get to be around 3-4 feet high, hollyhocks around 4-6 feet.

how much time & effort are you prepared to lavish on your piece of heaven,if a lot.then nothing to beat roses, all sort of annuals do well if its only for summer, not much care & a lot of colour, choose from information on seed packets.A few bulbs like tuberoses & gladioli etc will provide you with a display next year.
