She falled off from the bed, first when she was 4 mos old, then, 5 mos old, followed when she was 6 mos old. What could be the implications of this? She seems well and nothing's changed. But i just want to be aware of the complications if any. Thanks

BTW, in my defense, i didn't left her unattended. I'm the mother and mother's won't do any harm to their baby. It was all an accident and not my fault. Accident happens. And... Lastly, it is normal i think because it happens to almost everybody. She was too quick crawling and she can now can stand up. If any of you will just answer rudely, pls just don't answer. THANKS

She could suffer brain damage, watch for persistent vomitting, falls into an abnormal sleep ie: very very deep sleep, any other unusual behavior. Also, you should really change what you're doing if she's already fell off the bed 3 times in her short life. For instance, not putting her in a bed instead always putting her in a crib.
P.S. I could understand once or twice, being an accident. But not three times. My daughter sleeps in my bed quite often and has of yet(knock on wood) not fell off. And there are mothers that are neglectful and do sometimes intentionally hurt their children, so that is not a good defense. JUST STOP PUTTING HER IN YOUR BED!!

why is she falling off the bed so much?
by the way i have a 5mth old he doesn't crawl he has just learned to roll over i also have 3 other children none of which fell of the bed. i am a caring mother that makes sure my baby doesn't fall anywhere.
shouldn't you learn that you need to keep an eye on a baby never leave it where these things can happen?
baby's bones are flexible so its hard to break them but there brain is soft and can hit the side of the skull rattling around and can cause bruising even brain damage in some cases it can cause hemorrhaging.

I really think it would be best if you had your doctor check her out. Sometimes symptoms may not arise till much later sometimes as long as 24 hours. I'm sure you would rather be safer then sorry... wouldn't you?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And like many other people have said, don't let her sleep on your bed anymore, or anywhere where she is able to roll off or climb out of. Yes it is possible for accidents to happen, but usually we as mothers do learn from these accidents/mistakes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But the best thing to do is to observe your child. If your child is alert and conscious, and acting like he/she was before the fall, administer a dose of parental sympathy, apply an ice pack (wrapped in a teatowel) to the cut or bump for twenty minutes, and begin a period of observation before calling your doctor. The reason for the period of observation is because doctors often rely more on how the child behaves after the injury than what happened at the time of the injury. If the brain has been injured, signs may show immediately, or they may appear slowly during the next twenty-four hours. After the period of observation, depending on your baby's condition, you may or may not wish to call the doctor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Things to oberve:
# Loss of consciousness
# Vomiting
# Altered mental status
# Loss of balance while walking
# Prolonged crying
# Eye signs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If in doubt, call/see your doctor!
Hope this has helped. Wishing you all the best.

If you must have the under two year old sleeping in a bed instead of a crib where she can't fall - make a safe little harness for her so she may lie on her back, safely. Kids wander when they sleep just like adults. Have her checked by an emergency physician if she falls and then vomits, or her eyes roll back in her head.

Um, yeah. I would have her checked out. I would also put her back in a crib, where she belongs, so she doesn't fall anymore. I also would personally pull this question, because you never know who from CPS is reading this. Don't be surprised when you get the phone call. These things are easily traceable when they think neglect or abuse is involved. How could you not know the complications???????? I would think they are common sense.
**In all of our defense, how is it "not your fault" that in 6 months she has fallen off the bed THREE times?? She SHOULDN'T have been on the bed.

As long as she fell from 3 feet or so onto carpet she's fine. Anything harder than that or higher than that I would call her pedi. They usually aren't alarmed unless they suffer a concussion or something. The reason for the soft spot is so that their skull will be flexible. My daughter first did that when she was about 6 weeks she suddenly moved and flipped off the couch. I was right there. She has fell off the couch a lot of times since then. She's fine. A little bratty but fine lol! Good luck with her.

The worst she can probably get is a head injury. Signs of it being severe is her being really lethargic and vomiting. Watch out that can be really dangerous but babies handle falls better then adults because their bones are not fully formed. And I'm not saying you're a bad mom, but live and learn and keep her off the bed without you! Good luck!

When something happens once, it's an accident. When it happens repeatedly, it's neglect.
You should ask your doctor about the implications of repeatedly falling off a bed. There could be serioud long-term damage that doesn't show up until your baby's older.

Dont listen to the nay sayers. My son fell constantly it is just something that happens and I too was right there just not fast enough to catch him. I was told the rule of thumb is if they fall and the sore swell up (not a whole lot but a little) they are fine, but if it area is sunken in you need to go to the doctor. As for long term damage my son is now 5 and is perfectly healthy, but there is a chance that she could get seriously hurt so just keep a eye on her bobos and watch for unusual behavior afterwards

So you are saying that this baby has fallen off the bed three months in a row? I think the implications of this are that Social Services needs to become involved! How big of an idiot do you have to be to let a baby fall off a bed THREE FREAKIN' TIMES??
