I believe the correct answer here is d. Soft water can lather too easily. In fact, sometimes it requires several rinsings to remove the suds resulting from the use of soft water with soaps or detergents.

a

Water is softened by ion exchange with resin coated polystyrene beads. The resin is regenerated after it's active sites are exhausted (full of minerals) by flushing it with brine (concentrated salt solution).

B, C, and D are true for soft water.

D is true because soft water generally has residual salt from the brine solution that reduces lather.

FYI, passing water through rocks is what makes hard water hard in the first place!
