Good Question. Honestly I do not know. However I do know that there does exist an infinite number of dimensions that we as human beings - for we are limited creatures- cannot see, feel, touch, smell or even sense. How do i know this? Science and Religion of course. They do go together you know. it just depends on what religion. Anyway i do hope this is helpful. And yes there are mystical creatures that do exist in these different dimensions whether you believe it or not. I'm not saying this sarcastically either. But you may wanna hone down on the alien thing a bit, but increase your belief that there are such things as sorcerors [ like in Harry Potter] - but they are evil creatures - so don't try to connect to them or anything. Believe me that's the last thing you wanna do. Well, I hope i satisfied your curiosity. Cheerio!

Best way to answer that is to give the background on where the "5th dimension" was first proposed. After Einstein developed his General Relativity which explains gravity as a consequence of curved 4D spacetime, it was speculated that the 4D spacetime could be generalized into a 5D spacetime (with one "compact" dimension), that would explain electromagnetism. Klein & Kaluza, physicists in collaboration with Einstein, developed a physics of 5D spacetime, but failed to produce viable results. The concept languished until the advent of string theory, which began by adding the 6D Calabai-Yau complex space to the Einsteinian 4D spacetime (making 10 dimensions in all). Few physicists today take seriously a 5D spacetime model, so the "5th dimension" is now largely relegated to imaginative Sci Fi stories.
