It is on the Senate floor waiting for a reading. Some in the Senate are getting to gether to try and attach a tax break deal on it for businesses. They think that the hit that businesses are going to take from the wage hike will make some of the businesses fold.

The President has said that he will not sign the bill in its current form. The current form is to raise the minimum wage to $7.25/hr over the next 26 months. The first raise will be to $5.85 after the first 60 days after the bill is signed. The next will be 1 year later to $6.80/hr. and the final will be 1 year after that.

I know the house passed it. Don't remember hearing that the senate had passed it or the president for that matter. After the president signs it, I think it goes into effect in 60 days. The first step will be from 5.15 to 5.85.

Let's just hope small business don't have to lay off employee's now. Unemployment may go sky high.

I think that they are going to raise it to $7.39 over the next two yrs. It should have already been raised to this a long time ago.
