I'm planning to buy my parents a new bed, the one's they have not in good condition. In your opinion, what brand do you find to be the best? I'm planning to spend about 1,500. Any answers would be nice.

I was planning to get them the Tempurpedic but I had read somewhere "epinion" that the Tempurpedic would only last about two years or so and then it would give out. Is this true?

If you have the $ then a Temperpedic matress is the way to go.
We have had ours for two years and every night when I get into bed I say, Oh, this bed is the best! (How often does anyone think about their bed when its time to sleep . . .)
It has a 20 year warranty, never has to be flipped, doesn't relay motion, and doesn't provide a breeding ground for bed bugs!
Honestly, I don't know why anyone would buy anything else!

What kind of bed do your parents want? I wouldn't want one of my children to pick a bed out for me.
Take them shopping and let them see what they want. Do not, I repeat, do not buy them some fancy faddish thing. The "numbers" bed is a joke for older people. We have slept on it at several hotels and it is not that comfortable. The "hospital" type that lets you sit up or lay flat would be nice for certain physical conditions, but for most people it is a waste. Plus the mattresses develope wrinkles where they bend and are horribly uncomfortable to old bodies.
I spent $3,000 on our last mattess and box springs and that was 15 years ago. I have arthritis and needed a firm bed. Last year I added a foam top and it has helped when I really am sore. But my daughter has a very expensive pillow top mattress we sleep on when we visit and I am miserable on it. It's too soft and doesn't support any part of the body.
So take your parents shopping and let them decide. You are buying a bed they will probably sleep on the rest of their lives and they know better than you or the salesperson you will talk to what they need.

I heard that Tempu-bed is mostly air. Or something. The best kind of bed to get is one made with foam mattress, posslibly with latex in it too. I bought myself a full sized bed a couple years ago, and it's the best I have ever had, and it's foam mattress. May I suggest-please go to a bed store-that manufactures them as well-and ask questions. I was told that foam is the best. Plus, my parents bought a foam mattress bed in 1964-65, and it lasted until aobut 1998. I was told by the man where I bought my new bed-that my bed would last possibly up to 22 yrs. I spent 1800 cash-for the mattress, box spring (made of solid masonite), and got the frame thrown in free. Hope you can find a good bed soon-one that will last several years. Take care.

i was thinking abotu a temperpedic but it was so hard! we ended up getting a king koil line called natural response. no coils like the temperpedic, but a little softer. it has memory foam on the top and it is great. not sure how popular they are out there in the retail world, but worth checking into.

Tempur-Pedic....If you cannot afford the genuine, do some research. There are some excellent layered memory foam clones out there which are just as good for half the price.

One that vibrates and is heart shaped and can rotate too. Or, a craftmatic adjustable bed.
