No... the people who know the originals have no incentive to go see a remake because they 1) already like the original and 2) they already know the story. The younger crowd won't respond to the classics well because they are relatively tame now a days in comparison to all the FX and gore stuff.
A lot of what makes it a classic is the reaction to the movie at the time it came out. You show someone nowadays some of the original Universal monster pics and you are prolly going to get "why isn't it in color", "...and "this isn't scary. How did people think this was scary" etc. Same with the monster/ "B" movies in the 50s and 60s, Hammer films, etc.

No. Why try (poorly, as in the Hitcher, Omen, Carrie, TCM, Dawn Of The Dead and so on) to remake past classic when we could make new ones?

Carrie was remade I think, and The Omen was just last year. But I don't think classic movies should ever be remade, remakes are never any good.

Depends on whether the remake is any good. A lot of great, classic movies were remakes, too. Same with songs. Ultimately no one really cares if a movie or song is remade if it is good, but then we all throw a fit when the remake is bad.

i dont think any classic horror films should ever be remade due to two facts. first, remakes dont often capture what the original story/direction very well. It would often star young and untalented actors that screws up what made it a classic in the first place. second, today's films use too much CGI, and too much gore/blood. back then, even without CGI they used real puppets besically anything that is real is better. also back in the days the story has much thicker plots than todays avarage horror films that relies heavily on blood and gore to attract attention.

I think in most cases the classic is best, but like in the case of "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Invaders from Mars", I like the remakes better.
The original "Mummy" was great, the remake sucks, same with the Godzilla movies.
It just depends on the movie and how the remake is made.

I think they should remake the cementary Joe movies. Anything where spooky ghosts are the main scare point do well remade. Just look at House on Haunted Hill. That was origonally in black, white, and glowing green skeleton.

The good classic ones should not be remade. I could see remaking some of the other ones that had promise, but for one reason or another weren't too good.

I think soo...The Omen was remade...I would have to say I would rather see sequals or prequals to a movie. Such as- The story behind jason or freddy...Like them growing up rather than just picking up where they are killers..

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of them doing remakes of any movies. It's the same story only with different stars and locations. It seems as if they don't have any new ideas for new movies.
