It's a little impossible to compare the two, since they are not even in the same Ball Park. They are technically both PCs (personal Computers) I've answered a lot of questions comparing Windows, MAC and Linux without trying to be bias toward any of them. This is a never ending discussion, Stand behind your MAC, Stand behind your PC and Stand Behind it's Operating Systems. The Pros and Cons between them don't even add up to a fair and just comparison. There are plenty of one sided review sites that discuss this subject, as there are people who use those computers. You may even have your own opinions. Understanding and knowing the Operating Systems put a different light on the comparisons. MACs have a specific purpose and they stay within the confines of their own software and what software is written for it that works specifically with the hard ware they install. They are stable, fairly safe and, secure to a certain point. PCs have no specific purpose, you throw any kind of hard ware you want at it and throw any kind of software you want at it, therefore they tend to crash and have issues more than any other computer. Everyone can argue this or any thing some one else writes about them.

It depends on what you're using them for. I personally use a Macintosh for most functions--especially those dealing with the internet, since the Mac OS is more secure--but I use Windows for certain programs (namely some games and some computational software for my schoolwork) that aren't available for the Mac. I couldn't get by without both Macs and PCs, but if I could only have one, I would take the Mac, hands down.

Just go ahead and try to upgrade a mac.....Have fun tying to buy something like a SLI setup for graphics card. If you want to run 4 or even two cards forget it. You might find one or two upgrades, but not the dozens you can get for PC. Also plan on paying at least double for upgrades. I do agree that memory is better, but for about 150 bucks you can get the most state of the art memory upgrade for a modern PC. That will smoke a Mac. About the only thing Mac is really really good for is art and cad stuff. If your a gamer forget the Mac, your selection is crap. Primarily because Mac processors cant handle high end games.

After spending over $5k in last 10 years on buying and building and rebuilding PC's, I got a Mac- mini in 11-2005. Since then no virus, no worms, or any of the BS that people do to your computer. No reboots, no reinstalls, almost no restarts(so far only software updates), no more fixing short comings from Bill's software. In short if you want to keep working on your computer, buy a PC. If not www.apple.com, it's not perfect, just close.

THE TWO GUYS AT THE TOP ARE WRONG!!!!!!
PC's stage a serious beatdown on Mac's when it comes to gaming!
Ever heard of the ATI X1950 Pro?
How about CROSSFIRE?
Mac will never do any of that.
I didn't even know you could game on those things.
I like to refer to Macs as hippies
because they are artsy and weak.
Mac's are good for multimedia, granted, but PC's are gaming machines. My PC, as it stands, Kicks the snot out of the G5 AND the 360!!! If I upgraded any more, it would make the PS3 look like Bambi!!
PC's are for games. Period. Not Mac, PC.

You need to get Linux or at least find out about open source programs that are available even for Windows such as open office.
