I believe I can answer this one....The team is Called the CAROLINA PANTHERS....not North Carolina, not South Carolina, not Charlotte Panthers, but Carolina, if you watch the next Carolina Panthers game in Bank of America stadium or a taped program...if you look off the field around the sidelines a banner hangs in which both states of North and South Carolina is drawned with the Carolina Panthers logo...
They are in Charlotte because that is the best media market city for the Carolinas (in ratings) and Charlotte is Geographically in the center of both states and very near South Carolina, THEREFORE. The Carolina Panthers are claim by both states...as the Carolina's!
