The silicone cases should both be custom-molded to fit the factory shape of their respective iPods. In the case of the Nano, the original design was like the 5G Video, where the four edges on the back side and the four corners were all rounded, but the four face edges were squared off (from the top or bottom it looks like a really wide bowl). The new Nano design is like the old Mini, where the long edges on both the front and back were rounded, but all four edges on both top and bottom are squared off (from the top or bottom it looks like a really long Tic-Tac). So, an original Nano silicone sleeve will have six rounded edges where it should have squared-off edges, and two squared-off edges where it should have rounded edges, rendering the sleeves incompatible. Now, a leather slip-case, a sock, or some other case design that doesn't "fit like a glove" should have no problem working with either shape, since they look to be roughly the same general dimensions.
