If his Majesty the Rev., Dr., Lt. Col., Martin Luther King Jr. Esq. were alive today wouldn't he be ashamed of the state of the black community. Colored people running around having umpteen babies all by different daddies. "Brothas" selling drugs and refusing to work for a living, wouldn't he consider this more of a nightmare than a dream? wouldn't he tell you people to get your act together?

Martin Luther king was a man deep into adultery, and without respect for his family, wife or community or fellow citizens. He was not a preacher or minister in his own right. his doctors degree was bestowed upon him by some Little unknown college and he king had little qualifications other than stiring up trouble.
It's Ionic that most blacks now with education see though king and wish to see the man remain buried and out of their lives.
The mst decent thing we could do for america and the balck race is to remove the silly MLJK holiday forced upon us.

The only thing I can do, as a white person, is not make excuses for the redneck culture that has become so prevalent in many black communities. It's not like this sort of behavior is part of a "black identity" that was infused into them through there genes. It's culture, and it was passed down to them from the redneck slaveowners who behaved in much the same way. Most Africans, born in Africa, that I've met have had humility, were polite, and were educated. They didn't have this F@$% Off attitude and violent pride we see in the Gangsta rap videos and in the movies.
When somebody points out the state of the black community, and I say, "it's not there fault, they had ancestors who were slaves and the CIA sold them crack" It hurts them ultimately, not helps them. And really it's a lot closer to racism, than the question posed by this person.
White people need to learn that redneck culture isn't going to get them anywhere either, by the way.

I still argue that there are more white men/women than black "having umpteen babies by different daddies," selling drugs, and refusing to work for a living. I know at least two adult white males with children in each of these categories (unfortunately, in my own and my close friends' and even students' families).

The lifestyle should of course not be glamorized as it is in the media, but you certainly cannot blame such a lifestyle on the black community alone. The concept of drugs and wandering was not invented by blacks. Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the most egotistical European author and "scholar" who ever lived, had four children whom he never knew and never helped raise.

You should have reevaluated your question before posting it for others to see and answer. For one, I am NOT in love w/ the fact that you would use a great holiday to degrade and stereotype Black Americans just to unleash your racist rant. "Colored".... "Brothas"...... I mean, where in the world do you come off. If you want to get technical. THE Dr. MLK jr. would find you a nightmare. Don't just look at the Black Community for making mistakes. It's a problem that we all, of EVERY ETHNICITY/RACE, face within our own culture. You, my brother, need to get your act together.

You know, you make a valid point.
As a black person, I can say that the state of the black community is in shambles. Many of us are in denial of this fact and many of us are unaware of what squalor a lot of us live in.
Your question may be perceived by many as being racist, but I can see it for what it is, a good observation.

i'm white. the U.S. government policies; starting with slavery, then segregated bad schools, then well intentioned welfare rules that monetarily rewarded unwed families, then the FBI assasinating Black Panther leaders, then the CIA selling crack at low prices into the ghettos have all been large contributing factors.

Instead of pointing an ill-informed finger, why don't you figure out how to be part of the solution.

Two he would most likely say it is time you stop playing victim.
MLK never wanted blacks to sit around and cry victim but to rise up and work hard and set a good example for others.
