Disorders of calcium metabolism occur when the body has too little or too much calcium. The serum level of calcium is closely regulated within a fairly limited range in the human body.
The amount of biologically active calcium varies with the level of albumin, a protein to which calcium is bound, and therefore levels of ionized calcium are better measures than a total calcium; however, one can correct a total calcium if the albumin level is known. When you don't have enough calcium your bones become weak and very fragile.
And you can also get kidney stones.

i just took a anatomy and phisology class at east tennessee state university and my professor went over what happens and what he has seen (he is a medical dr.)
calicium is circulated in the blood and used in muscle movement with out calcium the body can not fuction. what calcium is not being used is stored in the bones. too much calcium over or too much under can cause trouble. too much over can cause muscle spasms and bad pain in there bones and joints.
he said that he has had patients how were told that they were starting menepause and to take in more calcium so they dont develope osteoparosis and they start taking all kinds of calcium supplements even though they still have normal calcium levels.
they come in to see him for there pain they are experiencing and before he runs expensive test to see what is causing the problem he ask if they have been taking in large amounts of calcium if so he informs them to stop taking the extra calcium and see if the problems stop and usually they do. people take in enough calcium in our daily diet only if there is a calcium defiency then the extra calcium is needed.
Hope This Helped. and if and im sure someone will has anything Smart A** about what i wrote they can kiss my A**. and go ask a doctor if i am right
