I have a girlfriend I'll call Barb. She calls me up all hours and talks so much about such insignificant things. I've endured her for sometime now. She likes to talk about herself, but doesn't want to hear about what is happening with me. I called her up, as I admit I do sometimes, to tell her something exciting that happened to me, and she hung up, never apologizing. Thought we got disconnected..so tried back. Got her answering..she would not take my recall. After a few days she just offered an excuse of feeling like she was going to pass out. I've been ignoring her big time lately. I really don't believe her excuse. Shall I drift away from this person as a friend ?

Sounds as though it will be in your best interest to let this one go her selfish, self-center way.

As a friend? What kind of friend doesn't listen? Is she really your friend? Friendship is a 2 way street. I'd stop calling her and when she calls you I'd explain to her that she is self absorbed. Maybe she's so used to you being the listener that she doesn't realize how selfish she's being. If you express your feelings about this and she's a butt about it then you're better off without her. If she says she didn't realize how she was behaving, then you may have just made her more self aware.

Yes it sounds as if the friendship is one way. I would just back off. Because a friend will listen when you need to talk. Just like when she wants you to listen when she needs to talk. I think it was just rude of her to let her answering machine pick up when she knew that you were well aware that she was home. That's no friend

I would.
It sounds like she is just interested in one thing. Herself.
People like that are never there for you when you need them but expect your 100% attention on them.

If you were floored up in a hospital, from a car accident, it would probably be WAY too inconvenient for her to be at your side.

I say, drop her. She is too self absorbed.

You may choose to stay friends but drift anyhow. This sounds just like one of my friends.

Why would you want to spend the rest of your life with someone who isn't into anything of yours whether it is important or not. I really think you know what to do and I really do hope you find someone that really knows how to value u!
