the word sounds like (hints) i heard it on the movie haunting Sarah and i would like to find out more information on it but i need to know how to spell it first

Haunts? Sometimes "ha'nts" -- it is an old saying, American, sometimes from the South? It usually means ghosts, but could refer to evil spirits. I know it is in Mark Twain's writing.

In the book To Kill A Mockingbird they used the word "haints" (pronounced "hints") to mean evil spirits.
