"Stop, In the Name of Love" and "Where Did Our Love Go" were probably the most popular hits - but with Barry Gordy at the helm of their career and the writers spending the majority of their time in the studio at Barry's command - creating 'hits' for them - hey - anything they sang was basically a hit - that is until Diana could not hit certain parts and then they brought out the big dogs - such as - Valarie Simpson. That "breathy" singing Diana was trademarked for hurt her at times and the real singers had to come out and create the parts and direction for her. Please don't get me wrong - I'm not hatin' on her - but it's true.
