My boyfriend just bought a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon today. But now he has that little keypad thing to turn an alarm on and off. Nice idea. But he kind of has a history of locking his keys in the car (puts him in his pocket and they fall out, or something). The alarm automatically turns on by itself after 60 seconds if he doesn't turn it on with the keypad. So I was wondering if he could get a spare key made to give to his parents. But would he be able to use it to get into the car if the alarm is enabled?
It seems kind of pointless to even HAVE a key if you can't use it to get into the car, so it only seems logical that it should work, but things don't always work out logically...
Has anyone tried this or know if it works? Or do you have to have the keypad to turn the alarm off? (He only has one of the key pads by the way).
Thanks!
