I live way too much in the 40s/50s/60s. I listen to classic Jazz, I watch old movies, I always read non-fiction books that were written in that time period or about that time period, etc. Even when I write I always have romance endings from that old period. Does this happen to anyone else? Because I really can't stand modern society. I feel its easier to live in Art than it is to live real Life.

You should live in the present, for the future, with a knowledge of the past. There's nothing wrong with your likes and dislikes. That was a wonderful period of time, with a lot that can be learned from its experiences. Today has just as much to offer, though. Enjoy "experiencing" the past, but don't let the future leave you behind.

You are a student of the past. I am too. You said you live too much in the past so you probably do. You have to live somewhere. Awfully hard to put The Past as an address on a drivers license though.

That's unusual for teen-ager like you. I like classic music too. But at least I'm in my early 50's. I don't like modern society either. Life nowadays is so complicated.

I hear ya! Sometimes the present is too painful and we want to retreat to more simple times. But they weren't always simple. Remember the great depression and all the wars.

There is no present or future, only the past, happening over and over again, now.

Put that feeling into your art. Make it a positive. Push the angst into excitement. It can be done.
