Does he give same attention to another girls? Like hugging 'n sitting together whatever? I met many guys like that...usually they just want to be around w/ girls. Do u like him? If u do...make him jealous with another guy. So that u can see how's his reaction. If he doesn't care...well...that means he doesn't like u in that way. This kind of guy usually just wants to keep the girl around them but they often make the girl puzzle 'does he like me?'. They want to have many girl(friends) rather than one girlfriend. My advice..Don't give ur hope to this guy...just be a friendly friend.
P.S maybe he just loves his friends so much...but it doesn't mean that he loves u in a special way.

The caps is hard on a person's eyes and they may not want to respond if you are yelling at them. Could you please tone down the caps.
It sounds like to me that he is playing around and you should know because you know him. If you like him and expect him to be a one man who is only after you then you better think twice if he has a roving eye.
Usually a guy who roving eye is not one you can tame and the last thing you want to do is end up with someone like that. If you like a commitment I would say pass on him and meet someone who is not like that. Guys like that you will end up in hot water and in tears.
