They loss the Rams and Raiders due to stadium issues...they couldn't get a new stadium deal and now San Francisco is losing it's 49ers to I think Santa Clara California because of the same issue. Because of that the Raider moved back to Oakland where they belong and the Rams when back east yet still in the West to Saint Louie (louis) to be the new St Louis Stallions Franchise but remained the Rams with all the Rams history.
The NFL is trying to get a team back in LA because it's the Second largest media market in the United States and a great opportunity for them to make that fat cash, but they couldn't get one to work. Most recently Houston got the best bid for a new team with the last expansion (Texans) and the Saints stayed in New Orleans...the Colts got their new stadium in Indy. So for the moment no new teams...but the NFL wrote to me that by 2008-9 they want to have a goal for a NFL team in L.A. Doesn't look like they are near it right now does it my Canadian friends?

I think the right question would be: Why Can't L.A. keep an NFL team! Why have the Raiders and Rams left L.A.?

They've had 2 teams and they've both moved. The Raiders and the Rams moved because they weren't making enough money, mainly in the luxury boxes. Also, they had an AFL team (San Diego Chargers) that moved. They might have a chance to get a team with an expansion in 2008.
I personally wouldn't put a team there, mostly because there are already so many teams in the surrounding areas. Plus, they already have USC. And that's just as good as having an NFL team, in my opinion.

Because they don't have a good enough stadium available for the NFL elitists- and the people in L.A. don't want to spend so much on a new stadium when the profit could be only marginal...
