Does the show make reference to a lot of stuff that has happened before? I'm thinking about watching it, but not if I won't understand what is going on.

It probably helps to have seen earlier seasons. The show does reference some of the things that happened earlier, but that doesn't ruin the show for new viewers. I only started watching the show last season, and I'm totally hooked now. I was able to pick up what I needed as the episodes went along.

You don not need to watch the previous seasons to pick up season 6. The show does a phenomenal job of making each season independent of each other. Although ther are some GREAT surprises and twists which refer back to previous characters or story lines, you don't lose anything being a first time viewer. I have made several people start watching from season 2 onwards or from season 4 onwards and now they are all hooked! Watch the premiere on sunday.....GUARANTEE you will be HOOOOKED!!!!!
