I have two laptops and I want to share files between them.
One laptop is wireless enabled but the other one can not be connected wirelessly.
I have one wireless router (Netgear 64bit Wireless G router). One of my laptop is connected to wireless router directly with Ethernet cable and the other one is connected wirelessly.

Please tell me how can I transfer files between these two laptops? Please dont suggest to connect them directly.
Consider the existing setup only and tell me if it is possible by changing few settings.

Thanks.
Pankaj

You need to have file-sharing turned on for both computers. You also need to have your firewalls on both computers turned down to a level that will allow inter-network communication (sometimes called Home Network or Office Network). You don't need to do a Peer-2-Peer network, though this would allow you to temporarily ramp your firewalls down while being shut off from the internet (thereby preventing any maliscious software from taking advantage of the lowered defenses). None of this should require buying anything that you don't already have, based on your description.

And if you get a wirelesss adapter for the hardwired laptop, that would allow you to connect both through simultaneous wireless connections (wireless gateways do have limits on wireless connections, but two shouldn't be a problem). Or you could just use some form of transferrable media, like USB flash drives (I have both my desktop and laptop connected through the same wireless gateway, connected directly to each other through a Peer-to-Peer connection via a network crossover cable, and I still use a flash drive for small files because it's simpler than tweaking security settings just for a quick transfer).

I'm not sure this will work; the wireless usb card probably won't work if it's just plugged into the router, it needs the laptop as a "middleman" to be able to interface with the network. You might contact the manufacturer of the card to see if this is possible, but my guess is no. Instead, you could set up whichever laptop has the card installed with Internet Connection Sharing (assuming you use Windows XP), then connect to the internet from the other laptop through the first one running ICS. Here's a link with more info on ICS:

Enable files or printer sharing on both laptops. The setting is in your Network connection window. Use the Network setup wizard if you're not sure how. Both laptops must also belong to the same network (Same Workgroup name---The workgroup name can be seen by Right-click My computer, select properties and select Computer name tab)

Run the network setup wizard from control panel, enabling file and print sharing on each computer and naming to the same ssid as the computer you have wired now. You may have to right click on files and enable file sharing on files and or directorys also
