In the past week or two my internet has been extremely slow.I've tried pretty much everything including power cycling my modem.Nothing is working.I've also called verizon(my isp)That didnt help either. They pretty much made it worse. The technition i spoke with screwed my computer all up.Its also really, really lagging offline too.Im using a usb cable for my modem, wich i know doesnt help in the first place. For some reason i cant get my ethernet cable to work.Maybe someone can tell me why or how i can get it to work.Is there any free downloads out there that will make my connection a little faster?Meaning like an internet accelerator...Also,how come im getting all these pop-ups and pop-unders all of a sudden?I thought those were pretty much a thing of the past with the new pop-up technology thats out there?I need some major advice....thanks

Yes I would agree I would get some spyware/adware programs. I run 2 different kinds. Spybot - search and destroy and AdAware. Some spyware/adware is picked up on some and not the other. Than I would delete all your temp files/ cookies/ and history. I have downloaded both of these programs for free from downloads.com. Hope this helps.

you should get an anti-spyware program, that could be an issue if you are getting popups all the sudden. internet accelerators do not work, as far as i have tried. Your isp is the only one who can make your internet faster (by upgrading your plan). so 1st thing to do is to get anti-spyware.

It sounds like you need to do disk clean up and then defragment your disk. after you do these 2 things, you should see a major improvement.
