Is it possible to track a laptop for example if it is stealing someone else's wireless internet?

If you are logging connections through your wireless device, you may be able to get a MAC address.
If you think someone is taking your wireless though, consider just enforcing an access list. Such as for my router, I have it set where only my wireless card and my daughter's computer can access the wireless router. I also have assigned IPs to each of the computers on the network.

No, it's not. Although you can tell if someone is using your wireless it's not possible to positively identify them. If you don't want your wireless to be hijacked, enable encryption. That's the ONLY way to keep anyone out.

for the layman it's just about impossible...the only info that the router is tracking is the MAC address of any devices connected to it. even if logging is enabled to track which web sites where visited there isn't much that can be done.
it takes a judge in a criminal court to subpoena an ISP for those records...

It is possible. First he/she will track the address, boundary, location and scale down to the receiving end.
Then copy all data in the computer.
And finally. pass it to the police.

they could do regardless of the hell they favor in case you connect their instantaneous community. they could ruin your pc and it may well be unlawful, because then they stuck you trespassing. in case you problem about being secure, get your human being information superhighway. people may even do stuff like turn the images on an information superhighway web site for you in the experience that they favor.
