Install more ram, delete programs you are not using, run spyware and anti-virus programs.

Be sure you have a updated Ad- or Spy-Ware blockers, they can really slow down your computer.
Also, from time to time, do a disc clean up. Meaning scan over your files on your hard drive. Delete the ones you do not need anymore. Move the ones you do want to keep, but not access on a daily basis to removable storage. Like copy them to floppy disc or CD. About once every 3 or 4 months do a DeFrag on your system. It will take fragmented or separated files and put them in one location and clear up more free operating space.

1. By increasing your RAM capacity
2. By jostling your processor if u have an AMD processor.
3. By reducing your RAM share with onboard VGA card if u use one
On software level.
1. By removing unwanted programs.
2. By cleaning up yr windows startup

There are several tricks and tweaks from defraging, to certain registry tweaks, to playing with your page file, getting rid of unwanted startup programs, giving certain program cpu priority.

Try googling windows xp tweaks and you will be innundated with things you can try. i would set a system restore point before you begin.

if you have alot of junk you do not use on your computer delete it, also gointo my computer and delete files unused, run norton or a virus scanner and delete your cookies and history in your internet explorer.
