Yasmin: Severe anxiety, more depression than I had normally, irritability, mean and cranky for no reason, weight gain, difficulty losing weight, bloating, and no sex drive. That's the bad, the good was clear skin, light period, rarely cramped, and the ability to do continuous birth control for no period.
Many women have had negatives on Yasmin, check out my sources.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Lo: Clear skin, weight loss, and little cramping. (back on this now).
It depends on your body though, different people need different things, check out this article, it helped me confirm that Ortho was right for me: http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/journals/a/Oral_Con.htm

I was nauseous at first but it cleared up in the second month. I had less cramping and more controlled periods. I also had more severe mood swings that were so out of control. I experimented until I found the right pill for me.
I also tried nuva ring but it was terrible for me. Sex hurt and I bled every time. It's a rare side effect but people who don't have it love the Nuva ring.
The benefits outweigh the side effects.

I was on the pill for 5 years and I did not have any side effects. People say you gain weight, but I didn't gain anything. I guess it all depends on your body and how it reacts to the pill. I loved it, it made my periods a lot shorter and lighter, which is definitly better! :) But, I did get pregnant while on the pill, I never missed ONE, so it can happen, so make sure you are careful and take caution. :)

It truly depends on what pill you go on. The higher to dose of hormones the more potential side effects you may experience. If you want a low-dose birth control menthod try Allesse or even the Nuva Ring.

Normally, not too many side affects except when you first start taking it. I didn't have any problems, but sometime your period schedule can be messed up for a while, like really short periods or really long ones, upset stomach, nausea, diareah, vomiting, things like this. But if you eat before taking the pill, you shouldn't have much of a problem. i also recommend taking them at night so you can sleep through any of the symptoms.

The only significant changes that I experienced with the pill was an increase in hunger, decrease in pain during the menstrual cycle, decrease in length and amount of blood during the menstrual cycle.
