I realize that this must be a horrible blow to you and you have my sympathies. HPV is very treatable. You need to do some reading on your own and have some questions ready when you go back to your doctor.
I read that nearly 80% of sexually active people carry this virus! Scary. Yet another reason to practice safe sex.
For anyone out there who doesn't know - there is a vaccine available now that will prevent HPV.
Good luck to you. You can get through this.

You need to stop the blame game, it's not the way to go. You are as much to blame as anyone. You consented to have sex and that is a risk you take, now you have to deal with it and hopefully have learned a huge lesson with a fairly treatable disease and not a deadly one. By the way, this has been around for decades and the health community has not chosen to educate and advise the public until now because they now have a supposed vaccine...that may prevent most women from getting it. OK. I know at least 10 women who have had changes in their cervical paps and have had biopsies done and some have had cervical surgery to remove abnormal cellular growth. So, it's around in big numbers, a virtual epidemic and no one talks about it until just recently. The drug companies are going to make a killing. No pun intended. So, go to your GYN and ask what you should do. I beleive ther is a medication to treat the warts and you will always have to be careful about any partners you have. You aren't alone, most people don't tell anyone even when they know just because it's got a stigma attatched to it but most people don't know how many people actually have it. Then just do the best you can, keep up on your paps and have the vinegar test done...ask every year before going to have your exam it you can have that done to to see if it is present. They ususlly don't do it because there is no treatment until you actually have the abnormal pap and the abnormal...it's like do nothing until it is in there. So, that is the story how I know it. I hate that you have this and feel sad but you aren't alone, for sure. Take care of you.

There is a cream called Aldera, it will work. It may be a little more difficult for a woman to apply though. Sadly, HPV is a lot more serious to women than it is for men. For men, it really means nothing but some warts that probably will go away and most cases never come back, but in women it can lead to cervical cancer, although THAT is rare as well. Don't worry, the warts will clear and there is a chance that you will never see them again.

There is no cure for HPV, it is a virus. However, companies are now making a preventive shot for several of the cancer causing forms of HPV, which you may want to discuss with your doctor. Even though you already have HPV, it is only one strain, and the shot covers several different strains.
Realize that around half of the sexually active population have, or have had HPV.
Can you sue a partner for giving you HPV? probably not, since you would have to prove that he had sex with you for the sole purpose of giving you the disease, which I doubt was on their mind at that time.

You can sue for anything, whether or not you prevail depends upon whether you can show neglect or an intentional deceit by the person who infected you. You can, through a lawyer, have your two lovers submit to a blood test to prove which one could have infected you. Then you have to show that, in fact, you did have sexual relation with this person. Then you have to show that they knew, or should have know that they were infected and chouse not to tell you in order to have their way with you. You have to show this with a preponderance of the evidence, which means that you are more convincing then the other person with what you are able to put forth for proof. Then you have to show the damages you have suffered, and are most likely to suffer for an award. Just remember, before you go to all this trouble, some people are judgment proof. That means that even if you win they will be unable to give you any thing, e.g. you cannot get blood from a turnip. Talk to a lawyer.

You need to stop having sex without a condom. No you cannot sue for not protecting yourself-- it is your responsibility.
You need to IMMEDIATELY go to a gynecologist at your local hospital clinic or private doctor's office for a complete diagnosis to determine if you now also have cervical cancer, not to mention treatment of your HPV which cannot be treated at home.
You do not get to choose the method. Depending upon how long you delayed treatment and how far it has spread, your gynecologist will either choose cryosurgery (freezing) or conventional surgery (cutting) to treat your HPV.
If you delay treatment any longer you could lose your ovaries and/or uterus and be unable to conceive children, or if you have cancer it can spread to the point where it becomes inoperable and you could lose your life.
You need to go to the gynecologist IMMEDIATELY.

Don't be sad because you're not alone!
There's really no way to tell which of your two partners gave you the hpv because in some people it does not show and he/they don't even know they have it. That's how I got mine from an ex-boyfriend.

You will need to contact your doctor for the appropriate medication. Unfortunately, the disease won't go away permanently and you will have periods when it will flare up meaning that you will need to restrict your sexual activity as you can transmit the disease during this time period.
I would get in touch with both of these folks and let them know so that they can be tested. I don't know if you can sue them or not, perhaps a call to the free Legal Aid service can better advise you.
So sorry that you have had this hand of cards dealt to you. Take care.

first of all...no, you can't sue him..unless you said something like "please put on a condom" and he said "ok, i'm putting the condom on"..but never did. but then, still it would be hard to prove.
secondly, do have the kind of hpv that causes warts? most types don't cause warts...some cause cervical cancer, but is treatable if detected early.
thirdly, did you know that 90% of sexually active people have some type of hpv? i have it! nothing to be proud of, but as you said, "not end of the world" just be glad you didn't catch something more serious...
now it's up to you, are you going to learn your lesson from this and use a condom EVERYTIME now? -or- let something else pop up (like AIDS) and be "sad" all over again?

A Yahoo forum is NOT the place to be asking these questions. I am guessing that most of us are NOT professional doctors. You should professional answers and advice about this sort of thing.
As far as suing the partner who gave it to you...first you have to find out which of the two has it, and gave it to you. If he already KNOWS he had it and didn't inform you, then he IS legally liable. You very well could bring suit against him. You'll need a lawyer though..
