See if the drivers are installed correctly first. Go to Start - Control Panel (click classic view) - System Folder - double click. Click the Hardware tab - click Device Manager. Are there any yellow ? or ! by the sound? If there are - click the plus sign to expand - double click on the one that has the yellow ? or ! - try to reinstall drivers.
Are you sure that the "mute" button is not checked and the sound is turned up? Is there a speaker down by the clock? If there is - double click and make sure volume is turned up.

in case you dropped it and thats why you sent to Dell, they probable have not put in the sound drivers on your computer. pass to the Dell internet site, help and enter your computer equipment tag from the backside of the computer. seek for audio drivers, and obtain and set up. in case you dropped after to procure it returned, then you certainly might have broken something. deliver it returned returned.

Install the driver, either from the driver CD or website.
In response to your email, here's the link. Enter your model or service tag number and download the audio driver.
( I keep getting errors when I try to reply to you)

if none of the other suggestions actually work, then try turning off your computer, when you go to turn it back on, hold down control and alt and turn it back on, the system menu should come up and then you can do a sound test on it
