How does the government affect our everyday lives negatively? I live in Canada, so this would have relate to the Canadian government, not American. This would really help with my project! Thanks.

Well, if you pay taxes in Canada, this might work...

In the US I pay taxes for services that I don't use. I pay for schools that I don't have children attending, I pay for roads I don't drive on, I pay for all sorts of services that I don't use. While there's a good arguement that all those things make for a better society, it still affects me negatively because I'm forced to pay for things I don't want or need.

Does that help?

I assume Canada still taxes its citizens. That is a negative impact on your income. However, it is balanced out by the services that your taxes pay for. I think the question you should be researching is how does the government negatively impact you personally. To answer this you have to figure out what you believe in and what your government is doing that goes against your beliefs. And try to figure this out on a local level. Is your city government granting too many business liscences, plowing under green space and negatively impacting the environment? Is your city government not granting enough business lisences, causing your local economy to grow too slowly? In order to define negative impact, you have to define your own values.
