you'll have to save the Word document into Notepad actually. when you do this, go to My Computer>[your iPod]>Notes and drag the Notepad version into this folder. when you go to your iPod go to the main menu and then go to Extras>Notes and your Note should be in there! your iPod wont store very much on one note so you may have to split it up into a couple Notepad files and put them on your iPod.

There are two ways you can add text documents to an iPod. The "hard-drive" method is to just open your My Computer directory and look for the entry that matches your iPod. Click and Drag your file into this folder, and a copy of the original will be created on your iPod, but as far as the iPod is concerned it will just be unusable space. You will need to plug it into another computer to access the file.

The "notes" method is to add it as a simple text file (make sure you've saved it with a ".TXT" file extension) to the Notes folder on the iPod. But wait! There's more! You can even hyperlink from one note to another, or from a note to a song/album/artist/playlist. This page will tell you how:

To access notes once they've been loaded into your Notes folder, browse in your ipod to Extras and then Notes to get a list of all .txt files in the primary Notes folder.

i don't think it is supposed to show up in your library. I think the hard drive is only meant to transport files from computer to computer. You probably have to move the file to your computer and open the document in word. Ipods are generally music players and it does not have the MS Word program in it to read that file. Hope this helps

tootsie is wrong. in the ipod settings it will have certain files you can sinc to it. so go into the settings and just browse the file folders and pick one. you wont be able to see it in your library though. just your ipod.
