There are the big ones people have mentioned. But I would like to suggest the University of Chapman in Orange, California. It's an expensive school, but 79% of the students receive some kind of financial aide. It's in the town of Orange, surrounded by everything California has to offer, definitely not a small town since all the Orange County towns/cities run together. But it does have the small town feel. It's a wonderful place to go to school with some great educators, they even have a law school.
Their website is http://www.chapman.edu/admission/orange.asp
Chapman Academics Program http://www.chapman.edu/academics/default.asp

City of Orange Website http://www.cityoforange.org It's also close to the beach, but not far from the mountain snow in the winter either and is neighbors with Disneyland.

The other I would think you might want to look into if your wanting a bigger school feel but without being in downtown LA. Is University of California Irvine, it's a great school in a great area. My sister recently graduated from there. http://www.uci.edu/ There is also a Christian University in Irvine, that is a great school as well, Concordia University. http://www.cui.edu/

I wish you all the best. We are from California, the military moved us to Arizona, our son is hoping to get into Notre Dame in Indiana in 2 years. Kind of ironic how you are from Indiana wanting to go to school in California and our son was born i California wanting to go to school in Indiana. Best of luck to you!

The CSU system has 23 outstanding colleges. The UC system has nine that are also excellent. Then we have amazing independent colleges. Pepperdine, USC, University of the Pacific, Westmont, Azusa Pacific, Hope, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco, Saint Mary's College, Santa Clara University, William Jessup University, are all great places to google and check out.

Try this website www.californiacolleges.edu

Depending on your major and your learning style, you can get a terrific education in California. Good luck!

Theres are tons of colleges in California, some private and some public. The California State University system has campuses all over California and are less expensive and easire to get into than the Univeristy of California schools. I'm a graduate of two of them.

The University of California, or UC system, is pretty good. Of course they vary depending on what you want, but Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego are all great schools.

There's also Stanford University.

I'd suggest you speak to your guidance counselor for more information about good schools in California and how they best fit what your goals are.

Any good colleges in California? Good one.

Stanford, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, Cal Tech, UC-San Diego, USC, Pamona College.

Any of these names ring a bell?

You might try going to Princeton Review's web site. They have a tool that asks you about your background and interests. Then it suggests colleges that are right for you.

Stanford and Berkley are nice, I liked it when I visited. But you can do a collegs earch on collegeboard.com and they have everything you need to know in order to search for colleges. You can search for colleges by region, private v. public, fields of interest, and many other topics. Good luck! And if you have any questiosn regarding how to use collegeboard contact me.
