First, make sure you don't have strep. If you have this sore throat for more than a few days, see your doc.

If the sore throat is viral, try some cold eze tablets, and make some fresh ginger lemon tea with honey. It works great.

Take fresh ginger root, cut it up into 1 inch size pieces, about 4.
Then take a cup of water and put it in a pot with the ginger and boil it. Simmer for about 5 minutes. Add a slice of lemon and honey. It works. Ginger has properties in it that can kill cold viruses. The honey will coat the throat.

Good luck and feel better.

I know this is the alternate medicine section, but I always take Strepsils with eucalyptus at the first sign of a sore throat. They never fail. The antiseptic kills most of the germs, and the eucalyptus clears the sinuses. They're also good for bad breath. As most colds start with a sore throat, I find them particularly useful. I haven't had a cold in years.

First try to think of the sore throat is a good sore throat. Assigning it as bad only makes it worse. Next make a solution of gralic or sea salt in water. Gargle the water as often as you wish. You don't need the garlic in the water when you gargle. Drink lots of clean water. Try some kelp and algea. One has natural salts and the other has protein. Both will help you.

You need to gargle with very warm salt water three times a day, drink hot liquids like chicken soup, tea, hot water with three tsp. jello stirred in, Zinc lozenges, Advil for pain when needed, Vitamin C as well as O.J. and lots of rest. You can use chloraseptic spray for the pain also. Most of all make sure ther are no white spots or if it is accompanied with a very bad headache it might be strep and that is nothing to sneeze atlol See a Dr. if you think it could be that and if it persists past a week. Feel better soon.

When I get a really bad sore throat it is because my sinus infection is draining down the back of my throat causing it to get raw. I first take an antihistamine to try to dry my sinus and also drink lots of water. Then I'll take a medicated cough drop to help sooth the raw throat. And later a cup of warm tea.

Try that numbing spray, the pharmacist should be able to direct you to the brand. I will also tell you that apple juice, helps a lot. It sooths the throat as you drink it. Make sure it's really cold. You do need to see a doctor though because, you don't want it to be strep and not have it taken care of.
