I agree, but more than watching the news, they need to read a few papers to get different views.
In the USA most people could not fill in a blank map of their own country:(

Watching the news does not mean a person knows what is going on in the world, a person needs to read history to get a connection and fill in what is missing and/or a bunch of bologna, plus reading newspapers, magazines and books...to much of TV is to get your adrenaline going, haven't you noticed the music that goe's with it...they are trying to sell a product and need something to get you to watch...

What's worse is the misinformation the news tells us as well as the important information they suppress. It's more difficult to find the truth these days, but it's out there if you're not to lazy to look.
The real problem is people are so lazy they believe what the mainstream media wants them to believe, never bothering to check for validity.
If it comes from CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, NY Times, LA Times, Newsweek, Time etc, I immediately suspect that it may not be true. They've all been proven to have lied in the past, so no one trusts them anymore. Sad but true.

I had a teacher in high school that would start off class everyday by asking each of us to share one event that was going on in the news. It taught us all to be informed of what goes on in the world and it's stayed with me.

Yes I do, but getting the news from the regular media only is not healthy.

I'd rather they watch nothing at all than be informed by FOX news. Better to be uninformed than indoctrinated by misinformation.
