Everyone's body, men and women, produce yeast. Our bodies need a little of it. But sometimes we produce too much. This can be caused by eating too much sugar, by taking antibiotics that kill our helpful bacteria that help maintain a balance in our systems, and thus the yeast overproduces and becomes a yeast infection.

What Is a Yeast Infection?
A yeast infection, also known as candidiasis (pronounced: can-dih-die-uh-sis), is the name for a common infection caused by a type of yeast-like fungus called candida.
Yeast infections usually occur in warm, moist parts of the body, such as the mouth and moist areas of skin. When they cause an infection in the vagina, it is known as vulvovaginal
Common signs and symptoms of yeast infections include:
itching and irritation in the vagina
redness, swelling, or itching of the vulva (the folds of skin outside the vagina)
a thick, white discharge that can look like cottage cheese and is usually odorless, although it might smell like bread or yeast
pain or burning when urinating or during sex
If you have any of these symptoms, see your doctor or gynecologist. It's easy to confuse the symptoms of a yeast infection with those of some STDs and other vaginal infections. Your doctor can give you the right diagnosis.
It will last until you get it treated. Once you have one diagnosed, and know what it feels like, you can then treat it with medications from the drug store, over the counter.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:
https://bitly.im/aMDLh
Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Stress, pregnancy, and illnesses that affect the immune system may allow yeast to multiply, as can certain medicines. These include some birth control pills and steroids. Or if you're taking antibiotics, such as for strep throat, the antibiotics can kill "good" bacteria that also live in the body and normally keep the growth of candida in the vagina in check. Yeast also can flourish if a girl's blood sugar is high. Girls who have diabetes that isn't controlled are at a higher risk for yeast infections.they last intil they are cured. now you know

It is yeast actually growing in and or on your body, it depends on where you are talking about. If your are taking about a yeast infection down there well that is taken care of pretty quickly with lots of over the counter products at the drug store, not to worry.

A yeast infection is caused by yeast cells culturing inside of your vagina and vaginal areas (yeast is also the stuff that causes fermentation and bread to rise---vaginal yeast cells are related) They can last for a very long time depending on how your body fights against them and how clean you are. The fastest way to get rid of them is to drink cranberry juice and use an over the counter yeast infection medicine.

If you mean yeast infection of pelvic region.....it is basically fungal infection caused by the fungus 'candida'.
Usually can be treated with either one to 5 days course of oral anti fungal medication or vaginal creams.
If you are inquiring about systemic yeast infection.....then there are a wide list of fungal bugs (including candida). The systemic infections caused by yeast will require longer treatment....2weeks or longer!
