Granted I don't can't stand his personality or acting. But if they didn't have near the amount of violence and gore that they do, would more people go out and see them or would they still keep their distance, based on who he is?

if only i knew. i've always wondered that. but most people these days want to see a gory movie. they are some seriously deep movies and we don't see many movies like those now a days but when we do..i guess mel gibson just makes them pretty darn intense.

Realism. Life is graphic and gory.. it's just that most people do not want to accept it. We Americans do not understand or see this because we have lived at peace on our home turf for so long. It's reality and some people just can not accept it. Thank God for Freedom of Speech allowing individuals to shock and awe the public and remind us what the reality of graphic cruelity is. Not that I'm saying I like that kind of stuff.. it's just that people are better off knowing about it before they -- find out about it. Get what I mean? Hope this helps.

your thanking about his last 3 or 4 movies, they are epic movies, long, big budget, lots of people, and graphic.
most movies now a days aren't intended to be this type of movie so they don't get as graphic, take brave heart for instance, epic movies show you what it was really like, violence and gore and alot of action. take the passion of Christ, bloody, and violent, that how it has been portrayed for years and Mel has the guts to tell it like it is.

i think most people now a days go out to see his movies because of the great job he does telling them.

Not all of his films are. Well right now I can only think of two that are not. The Man With Two Faces and Bird On a Wire. Both are good movies Bird On a Wire is pretty funny. I don't like his views on life and such, that doesn't mean that I can't like his movies.

Because he is trying to tell the story in a truthful outlook for the time period and not sugar coat what those times were like. He actually could have shown more graphic detailed then he did.

Have you ever seen his movie Man without a Face? Only thing graphic in that is his scars.....Awesome movie.....almost doesn't look like him either.

As far as Passion- it is close to the bibles description....Apacalypto i was cool with till saw the part about the babies - just broke my heart.....But anymore that's all anyone wants is blood guts and icky things
