None. You need a modem, phone, TA, or Fax to connect to a phone line. you can buy TA and modems with routers integrated. The router will have a specific number of ports usually 4 and with wireless a great deal more usually 16.

You can have just one modem/router connected to a phone line. If you want to extend the range of a wireless connction you may be able to use another router to connect to the first to achieve this but only the first would actually be connected to the phone line

I have one BT Voyager 2000 router (wireless) on my BT phone line. I believe that I can use up to ten computers with my router to use the internet at anyone time (though I've only tried my four computers wirelessly to test this). So I'm wondering whether you meant : "How many computers can you have on one phone line" rather than routers? Sorry if I'm wrong on this.

Theoretically unlimited. However, on a normal DSL line more then 2 routers is unfeasible since by 4 connections you're total internet speed is cut into so many pieces it becomes extremely slow.

it's not a trick question...you have a phone line going into a external modem which is connected to the router via the RS232 interface....
technically as many as you need or want. however increasing the drastically increasing the diameter of your network can have a adverse effect on network performance...
if you are using a lot of routers on your network you should/better use subnets...

there is a limit how many devices can share a line. You have to look up the REM number of the phone line.
