A lot of people think/are right when they say a car mechanic often rips them off.

This however is nothing compared to a computer technician.

Assembling a computer, takes no money, and is as easy and fast as you wanna make it.

For commercial purposes, just assembling without installing $75, with installation of a OS and antivirus a good $150. This insures you stay competitive. If business is slow you could up the price, but keeping the price around these numbers insures a more regular flow of computers, upto the point that doing 4 computers can make you a good $300-400 a day. Don't forget any customizing you can charge for again, a good basic price is what attracts people.

We used to build allot of custom PC's. With Dell and others it is not easy to stay competitive. We do build them, but only if a customer demands something "CUSTOM". make sense?

Now to your question. $200.00 is not really enough...if the PC has a problem one time...you lost money in time...drive time, troubleshooting and replacing the defective component.

I would work this into your model.

Custom Build (includes OS and all updates and upto 5 programs) $199.95

Offer a 30 day warranty. Even if the components have more; i.e., hard drive 3 years, CPU 3 years.

Then I would offer a 1 year extended warranty (HARDWARE ONLY) $89.95

2 year $129.95
3 Year $159.95

Offer UNLIMITED (dont let that word scare you) email support for software/OS.

Good Luck.

minimum $150 thats just in case things go wrong plus your going to have to guarantee it for 12 months... and that can be very costly when you have to send parts back to the manufacturers..

Make sure you install all legal software if you don't you will be in serious trouble

so to keep things legal and the cost of the computer down you could download Novel Suse Linux Enterprise 10.2

there are version for the
32 bit system 5 CD's all the software they will ever need
64 bit systems 5 CD's all the software they will ever need
DVD version

or you can buy It from address below and give your customers a copy legally, with E-manuals and Tutorials downloaded from Novell

no more than 10-15% over the cost of parts. the most time consuming part is actually mounting the mb to the pull-out tray...

it should only take a good hour not including time to install the OS, etc. if that is even included...
