well I'm not an expert ( I just play one on T. V. ) but, here's some " been around the block a few times " advice...: )
I doubt they will ever completely close, but....mine are always pretty hard to get in after a year with no earrings....maybe no one will be able to tell, unless they are really looking.
also:
it doesn't seem to make much sense to pierce directly OVER the hole....wouldn't the same thing just happen again? because the ear under the new hole won't be a very solid base, would it?
If it were me......and I had room, I would pierce directly BELOW the stretched out hole.....but, I would seek out a professional opinion before i decided to do anything...
and I'd stop wearing ANY earrings...until I did.

The stretching comes from wearing heavy earrings. I don't know about getting them pierced again above the old holes...you might want to check with the person doing the piercing. But I do know that the old holes won't take too long to close up. I've had mine for 40 years and when I didn't wear any earrings for a few weeks (or maybe months) they started to close up and it hurt to start wearing earrings again. My left ear lobe took about 2 weeks to heal by leaving a small loop in it to keep it open. Hey, maybe you could get second holes pierced just above the old holes and let the old ones heal. Good luck!

The holes probably won't close up since they've been pierced so long. I wouldn't re-pierce above either. You can have them stitched up with minor plastic surgery or you can get earring backings that have these round discs about half the size of a dime (I've seen an ad for them on TV but they've been around for along time). They hold the earrings up so your piercings don't look all stretched. Also, don't wear heavy earrings.

i dont think it will go away, i believe its from wearing heavy earing or playing and tugging on them, that causes them to strech the whole. It might close up, but i believe since youve have them for about 20 years that it will take time, im 20 now and have had my earing holes since i was 9 months old,and mine arent streched out and i havent worn earing for over a year, and i still have the holes, so it will take time...good luck

the old hole wikll eventually close but not anytime soon. Since you had the hole for 20 years, it closes very very slowly. You should just stop wearing earring for a while and the muscle tissue will go back to its original elasticity

I say give the holes a chance to retract a bit. Don't wear earrings for a while. Like 6 months.

Well, I know that my ears took about 6 months to heal up. I got constant infections because it seems I am allergic to like every single type of metal. There is still the mark of the hole there though, and there is a bump inside the skin, probably scar tissue. But if your's are not infected they should heal nice.

Give it a try and not wear any earrings. The hole will probably get smaller.

yep, the weight of your earrings are stretching the holes. stop wearing earrings in those holes and they will eventually close but it could take years.

be counted on the place you're third piercing is gonna be. interior the ear too? I even have stretched earlopes, purely 5mm. i like 'em, i think of they are lovable. they at the instant are not so huge that human beings be conscious them today away, yet sufficiently huge to actual get observed while every physique is close. It hurts greater to stretch your ears, than it does to get them pierced. plenty actual.
