Yes I think the compilation songs he is doing with other artists is just a way of staying in the game until he comes up with his new songs for his album. It is also building up more fans and some good friends in the music business which he may use later on.

nicely, his very last good cd replaced into TES. restore wasn't that tremendous. So i'm guessing restore replaced into in simple terms to get human beings to commence listening to him again.
