NO! NO! NO! Socket 939 is for Socket 939 processors, Socket AM2 is for AM2 processors. If you want to run at 2.6ghz you can pick up the FX-60, or buy a new AM2 motherboard and DDR2 memory to go with a new AM2 processor. I don't think either of these options is worth doing, because you wont see much or an increase from your X2 3800+(especially anchored to that Radeon Xpress)(Is this for a notebook???) Overclock, get a reasonable processor(4600+ or 4800+ maybe,) or both, and get a real graphics card(no offense.)

To be truthful, i'm an AMD fan/person myself. I actual have continuously been pleased with the actual undeniable reality that the AMD chips were swifter than their Intel counterpart. So at the same time as Intel got here out with the middle Duo... i replaced into shocked that they were waiting to conquer the present AMD lineup. by technique of "cutting-edge" I recommend what AMD has accessible in retail immediately. So if you're making plans to construct your rig now or interior the close to destiny, I hate to admit it yet Intel is tops immediately. Me, i'm waiting for what AMD is popping out with as a reaction to Intel's center Duo. Basing on previous traits, AMD is continuously waiting to go back up with something extra ideal... (I do desire that which will nonetheless be the case this time round). At any fee, if what AMD comes up with is not so good as Intel's, then i visit make the change. So i visit attend.

You answered your own question while typing. Your motherboard is socket 939, that is a socket AM2 processor. Hence, the motherboard does not support the processor.

Try going to AMD.COM and see what they say. Don't take answers from this site to find out you got $$$ invested and something that won't work!
