You're being biased in your question. Be open to other genres of music, man. Some may say that you can't spell crap without rap, which is true. Personally, I hate the rap nowadays. It's the same damn thing over and over:

Money
Cars
Jewelery
Girls
Streets

Everyone has a street dream, but damn, not everyone has to make a song about it. It's hard to say that rap as of 2004 to now has any lyrical meaning in it. People could also call you stupid for listening to rap, so don't generalize people next time.

To be honest it's usually about either drugs sex and money (none of which are bad)

but when the majority of these songs are like a broken record it just becomes an undesirable genre of music, Tech n9ne? 50 cent?

About the only rap artist I enjoy is Eminem because I fall out of my chair in laughter at his creative and never repetitive lyrics

oh and for you disliking Heavy metal, rock n such maybe you should listen to more than 2 songs to make this post
And dont try to say the same about me, I've listened to dozens of rap songs only to be disgusted

I only hate TODAYS rap, the good old days of rap in the early to mid 90's was REAL streep poetry, it had a message. NWA, Ghetto Boyz, Eazy-E, Public Enemy guys like that were HOLDING IT DOWN for the streets, they weren't rapping about women, cars, jewelry and all that bull crap, it was about the unfair treatment of the police and real hard times in the ghetto and in the streets. It just sucks now and I don't even follow it anymore, don't even know who's who anymore.

People like what they like and hate what they hate, especially in music. You cannot expect everyone's tastes to be the same. Rap lyrics may rhyme but it is by no means poetry. But that is only my opinion. I'm one of the folks who thinks that rap sux. However, if you like it then that is really all that matters.

It can be anything from racial issues or just not liking the music. I like some rap music, but a majority of it just doesn't sound good to me. For me, I just have a certain style of rap. Sean Paul's music sounds fine, but 50 cent's music just isn't for me. Then someone like the modern day Vanilla Ice calling himself Eminem, yeah he sounds like a whining little kid attempting to rap.

Well I'll tell you, the "poetry of the streets" is the only genre of music where they cuss every other word, and call women ho's, and glorify violence, and some people(of all races, not just whites) don't like it. It didn't use to be that way either. Run DMC, Eazy-E, they didn't think they needed to shock to get their message across.

Rap tend to put people in negative mood. Truthfully heavy metal people like heavy metal, so they think that its better then rap, but its just they're opinion. just like you think that heavy metal stinks, and rap rules. it your opinion. Just be respectful of someone elses opinion.
