GB is giga bytes, like mb is mega bytes. a 1gb mp3 player or ipod will hold approximately 250 songs. Hope this helped

1bit= one switch either set to on or off. 8 bits= 1 byte. 1024bytes =1kb(1kilobyte). 1024KB=1MB(megabyte), 1024MB=1KB(kilobyte)
The 1024 is due to the binary system.(base2, or on off). 2 to the power of 10 is 1024

ok so its like this.in layman's terms assuming one byte is a can of coke then 1024 cans of coke will be one kilo byte. and 1,048,576 cans of coke will be one mega byte. so 1,073,741,824 cans of coke will be one giga byte. coming to think of it that's a whole lotta coke to drink there.lol. by the way kilo means thousand, mega means million and giga means billion. hope that helps.
