Sometimes I will say things in a chat or on here that are sarcastic or meant to not be taken seriously. It's not cool when people get mad at those comments or think someone is an idiot for it. You cant have a sarcastic tone in text so don't you think people should lighten up?

I find that people are rather slow when you put inflection into text. For they have not the knolage to interput the true meaning of what is writen nor how it is formed into a sentance. They see the words and do not understand the whole commet.

If for once some highly intelectuals would inturpet rather than read.
But alas this is not to be.

I hate it when people miss sarcasm, since it's pretty much my native tongue lol. they should get it, but they don't. people definately need to lighten up. If you know someone wont get it try emphasising the sarcasm in a statement by using italics or quotation marks, or even an emoticon. I also find that putting a couple of dots after the remark sometimes helps. (Eg. no...)

Yes Sarcasm is an art form lost on a keyboard and People should remember that this is an opportunity for people to answer a question the way that we can't in real conversation for fear of hurting someones feelings and if you don't like the answers don't ask the questions and don't report someone because your little feelings got hurt for asking a stupid question.

Yeah, I know.
Check out what someone said to a question that I asked only in jest. I mean, I just trying to give folks a laugh a free points. How's that hurting anyone?

I am keeping the question open because: there are few answers, and to irritate folks. I am petty too.

Since tone of voice, etc. is not there to give a hint, perhaps you should include an emoticon so people will get your meaning. After all, it is all about communicating.

if you're being sarcastic, i say you should always use the "i'm being sarcastic" smiley face ----> :-P or =P

otherwise, it's generally assumed that you're saying something because you actually mean it.
