My mum recently tried to stop and was wearing patches. She told me she was having nightmares too so she stopped wearing them. Seems odd to me but looks like it could be a common thing as my mum also had it. Don't give up though my dad managed to stop and has been off them over a year. Hes very glad he did and he hates it when my mum smokes now as it stinks. Good luck!

I just received my stop smoking patches the other day and while reading the informational literature I found that nightmares are one of the sideaffects from too much nicotene being in your system. The patches I am going to start are Nicoderm CQ. If I were you I would reduce the total amount of nicotene entering the body by removing the patch before bedtime. There are also support numbers that you can call to get advice, I believe they are also included in the literature.
Good luck with quitting!

You dont need those patches they are a waste of time and money. I gave up smoking 2 years ago without using rubbish like that. All you need is will power and loads of chewing gum. It is hard for the first year but each year it gets easier. The only problem I have now is I have put on 6 stone since I gave up.

I just quit cold turkey. It was painful for 4 weeks but then plain sailing the rest. I just wanted it over with.
Been quit since June 2005 after 21 years of smoking.

so awful - when your body ggoes through any stress it must react - while awake and sleeping and nightmares are a way of letting your brain deal with upset/trauma...they are "normal" and will subside... they're awful and i found writing them down (or typin them out) to be helpful) and i actually noticed themes...like ways i explained things that actually helped me realize what was bothering me...even though they made no sense when i thought about them - as the struggle lessens so will he nightmares...i'm totally impressed - one of the hardes t things to do - and i'm sure you've heard this a million times...but i saw my aunt dies of emphazema (sp?) and anything anyone can do to avoid dying that way is worth every minute of the pain of quitting - you can do it...and i'm totally impressed...i promise you won't regret it!!! kepp up the hard work!

Unless you have cravings in your sleep, take of the patch before you go to bed.
